http://english.aljazeera.net/news/europe/2010/04/2010413143636483629.html Poles mourn presidential couple After a plane crash late last week the president and first lady of poland are dead. They died along with many other important officials. I say that you should never put so many important people on one plane. They were asking for something bad to happen. I hope that the rest in peace.
The largest earthquake recorded by the US Geological Survey with a magnitude of 6.9 struck a mountainous Tibetan area of western China on Wednesday, killing at least 400 people and injuring more than 10000 people. Students were reportedly buried in their schools and other people were buried in their homes and workplaces. Officials said excavators were not available and with most of the roads leading to the nearest airport damaged, equipment and rescuers would have a hard time reaching the area. Hospitals were overwhelmed, many lacking even the most basic supplies, and doctors were in short supply.
I don't understand why there has to be some kind of natural disaster in some part of the world. sometimes, i just wish i could put a stop to all this, but i guess i can't. so all i'll advise is to cherish all that we have and live life to the fullest because, you never know what might happen......
A rapid series of strong earthquakes hit a mountainous and impoverished area of China's Qinghai province early Wednesday, killing 589 people, state-run media said, quoting local quake relief headquarters. At least 10,000 others were injured, the Xinhua news agency reported, and many victims, including school children, were buried under debris. Rescuers were struggling to clear debris with their hands and save those trapped below. This is a very tragic event and my thoughts go out to all the people who lost family or friends in this earthquake

I found this intersting because it's scary. you go to a festival to have fun and out of no where anything can happen. it makes you hope that the united states has better security and that nothing like that happens here! The article said that they dont know who set off the bombs but that normally it's anti-government groups. But still bombing a festival doesnt make any point. If they really want to have their voices heard they should have a big rally or something. Not hurt other peoples life.!!
After the mine incidents Presidet Obama has ordered a review of the mines' safety rules. I think that the mines should be safer. The violators of the safety rules should be punished. They might have to revise some safety rules to make it easier for people to follow. I hope that this doesn't happen again.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/04/15/unexploded.shell.head.afghanistan/index.html Military docs pluck live shell from soldier's head
There was an injured soldier who had just arrived at the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan when a Lieutenant Colonel realized that the shrapnel that had lodged itself inside the soldier's head was not just a shrapnel, but an unexploded ordnance that was part of a bomb that had gone off, something that could blow up at any minute. Doctors were told that they could not touch it with a scalpel, electrical current, or drop it, otherwise it could go off. Bini, the doctor who was to operate on the soldier since he was the most experienced, realized that, not being allowed to use any tools, he would have to use his hands. Apparently, Bini made an incision in scalp down to the skull to where could actually see the shell, and then worked it out with his hands. He then gave it to the explosive handlers. What this doctor did was extremely brave and shows a lot of dedication, considering that the shell could have exploded at any time, killing him and the patient. People are declaring him a hero, but he says how it is just part of his job and that it's the men and women on the front lines who are the heroes. I think that everyone involved who risks their lives could be considered a hero. War in general is a sad and awful thing and it's really unfortunate that all of these lives are risked everyday because of it.
Authorities in the US and in Mexico have started to tighten immigration laws and crackdown on illegal smuggling of these immigrants. Officals have raided van shuttling companies. These companies would pick up illegal immigrants and bring them across the border. Officals said that they did this by handing off their passangers to other drivers and others using the trains. The van drivers would be legal citizens, but the passangers wouldn't be. The passangers had fake tickets and papers to show police and authorities if they were ever stopped. If authorities did catch them, then the drivers would say they knew nothing about their passanger's legal status. The companies charged their passangers thousands of dollars to get the across the border. This just shows how bad immigration has gotten to be and how the US needs to change the way the currently deal with illegal immigrants.
This article talks about Russia's recent decision to temporarily ban all adoptions of Russian children by United States Citizens. According to the article, a report of neglect by a Tennessee mother who sent her adoptive son back to Moscow alone led to their choice to ban adoptions until new guidelines are reached. I agree that this does indicate a problem, and that some new guidelines need to be written, but I feel that complete banning of adoptions may be a little extreme. While there may be some terrible parents living in the US, i feel that this could be a problem anywhere, and that simply banning adoptions to the United States is more of a political shot at our country, rather than a move in the interests of adopted children. In fact, this decision may end up hurting orphans in Russia, preventing them from access to potentially better life with decent parents in the United States. However, while the move is extreme, child neglect is nonetheless a huge issue and should be further looked into by both governments. The mother in question here should be investigated and brought to justice for handling her child, adopted or not, in such a neglectful way. I just hope that both countries can agree to reach some new and improved guidelines regarding adoption in the near future in order to provide safer homes for Russian children here in the United States.
My sisiter-in-law just got her residence visa. And man did it take a long time(6 yrs).People who come to america make it hard for those who want to come the right way. Today 800 law enforcers dealt a serious blow to human smuggling by finding and organization that had brought thousands of illiegal immigrant to the us. I just wish people would do the right thing, so those behind them can have a chance at life in a new land.
A few days ago President Obama asked the Department of Health and Human services to establish a rule allowing gays and lesbians to be allowed to visit hospitals. Obama made a small speech on the issues of gays and lesbians in our country discussing the discrimination put on them. He also said he wishes to improve the condition of gays and lesbians in the United States. I think this was a good decision for the future of the country because it allows more freedom. This decision will also drastically decrease the prejudice towards gays and lesbians in this country. As well as allowing gays and lesbians to visit hospitals, President Obama also helped make a rule that allows others, besides members of the immediate family, to visit patients in hospitals all across America. I think this was a very important decision because it will improve the condition of many patients, emotionally and physically. G
http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_14891742 Although the U.S. is in a recession right now, the solar industry is continuing to push forward and continue to exapand all over the country. I think it is great that we can still keep our focus on situiations and issues other than the deficit or wars. I am surprised at the timing of this surge in use of solar power; I wouldn't have thought it would come around at a time of debt and stress, but hey, at least it's happening. Also, it is becoming a great way for the unemployed to get a job again. All of this may sound awesome by itself, but when you compare the U.S. to countries like Germany and Japan, you realize that we still have a ton of work to do to catch up! Hopefully, the citizens of our country can take the initiative and strive to keep the clean energy coming.
recently a man named Dan (unknown last name) has been doing a lot in the world of charity. it all started when his girlfriend made a bet with him that he lost. he ended up having to stand in the middle of the city half naked covered with sticky stuff for body wax. it was that he would charge people to rip the wax material off his body and all the results went to charity. he then made it go bigger. he made facebook group talking about how people should get their friends to do the same. performing weird tasks in order to raise money for charity. the group and the idea really took off when the video he made of it blew up on the internet. i personally think its a great idea and makes it fun for people to get out there in order to help the greater good. i might even see a few people around franklin street this week charging for a wax to raise money... you just never know what people would do to help the world
This artical is talking about how the top two ranked members of al-Qaida in Iraq were killed on Sunday. It was an organized assasination organized and staged by the U.S. Military and local forces. U.S. officials say that the two top ranked al-Qaida members, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Abu Ayyub al-Masri, were killed during a nighttime raid of the two men's safe house. I think that the intention of the U.S. Military and the local forces that helped, were good, however I think that the tactics in which they carried out inorder to fufill their overall goal of a safe Baghdad, Iraq and world overall, were inhumane and delt with poorly. I think that they should have just captured them and maybe even get information from them about future attacks. I think that simply exicuting people, especially without legal right is against our constitution, even if it is committed in another country. Our army represents our country as a whole, and when they act like trigger happy assholes, we seem that way too.
