My atricle is about Twitter, and it's "new design." Something that's going to make it "more effecient for people to get the feed they want to see faster," which, personally, I think is exceedingly riduculous. People, imcluding myself, spend WAY too much time doing pointless things getting us absolutley no where. For instance, Faebook, Myspace, TV, and Twitter... I think our world today should be focused on more important things rather than what the celebrities are "Tweeting." And, by making it more "efficent to use" only promotes the use of it even more.

Today I watched a video about the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Governor Bev Perdue, and many states local educators visited Sterling Elementary School students and met up to talk and discuss about the challenges and problems that many schools are facing. They have just recently started to replace principles, and teachers from schools (like Sterling Elementary) that weren't doing so well in education with other administrators. In 2007 only 35% or students from Sterling Elementary passed the state reading exam and only 50% pass the state math exam. Since the change these percentages have doubled. I believe that Arne Duncan has been doing a great job by making these changes and making great decisions. He is helping children achieve goals in their lives and is helping children have a better and brighter future.

i think that it is wrong to sell these to kids. if they smoke electronic cigarettes then they might as well smoke real ones and thats probably what they will end up doing. and since these are somewhat new doctors dont know what the health risks are. they might be worse than cigarettes so it would be pretty dumb to smoke them. and if people are allowed to sell these to kids then more kids are gonna be willing to try them.

I really wish to know more on his motive on doing this. Maybe it's because he believes it's better for both to die insantly then through the painful long process of death? This is pretty sad, I don't think he wanted to hurt anyone. He's just lost into thinking what to do. So he gave up life by killing his mother and himself.

The effects of the oil spill in the gulf are still being dealt with today. The court case for injured rig workers, lawsuits are being claimed and it seems fair that they should request the case be dealt. Even though a lot of companies that claim to already be contributing financially to the cleaning up of the oil spill, such as bp with 20 million dollars, would rather save their money. The trial has been urged to be sooner so that finances can be squared away which seems reasonable, considering it was mainly the oil companies fault for the injuries anyway. Any workers that were injured or any businesses that have been effected by the oil spill should get compensation for having to be out of work because of the disaster in the gulf.

drug lord Sergio Enrique Villarreal Barragan, aka 'El Grande' was arrested without a fight, at the southern central state of Puebla. the marines raided his home. The federal government said that the drug lords are now weakened. el grande is the second most recent drug lord after Edgar Valdez Villareal. also "el barbie" was captured. el brabie and el grande are great rivals because el grande says he betrayed their leader they have had several fights. Some say that taking out the major drug lords isn't a good thing because it will cause other dealers to fight over the position of their lord and fight over territory.

My topic is about Microsoft's new internet browser, IE9. Microsoft has just released the beta testing version of the brand new Internet Explorer 9. It is said that it utilizes new techniques to brows the internet in a faster and more convinient way. This new release has built in programs that will work with the browser, and the new software can access your graphics card directly, making it faster. However, I am not confident that Microsoft will be able to perfect the use of this technology. I think that other companies will make a better and faster version such as Mozilla, who has just released a a test version of Firefox 4. I feel that the only reason IE is on the top of the market is because they have been around longer. I will not use Microsoft's new browsers because i know it will have many problems and not be easy to use, much like their other products.

Today I read about a woman named Amber Lee of the age of 21. She's fighting for her freedom against many people that want her locked up. She says she got raped and she killed a man thinking it was the guy that raped her. But unfortunatly for her she killed the wrong man. She says this was a horrible accident and didnt mean to kill, but she was scared and confuse. The guy that actually raped her, got arrested but there weren't much evidence to keep him in jail. Lee feels hopeless, the thing that hurts the most is probably getting locked up for life and never having the chance to be with her two children again.

ReplyDeleteToday i read about a drug lord named " EL GRANDE " or " KING KONG ". Sergio Villarreal, who had a $2.3 million reward on his head. After decades of arresting kingpins and failing to stop the rivers of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and crystal meth, drug warriors created a new rationale: limiting the power of drug gangs. At the end they haved captured many big drug lords but in the end some are still loose and have a wanted for billions and billions of dollars! why is everything in mexico like all these killings!!!

ReplyDeleteBlake Lewis
I choose this article because it tells about how whooping cough has killed 9 people in California, and the infection is spreading. One risk is travel. Whooping cough is easy to catch and could work it's way into any other state, including North Carolina, via airway travel. If the disease spreads to fast it might be too late for doctors in some areas to act, and could possibly result in more deaths.
This article is about a woman/patient who experienced the first face transplant in US. The surgery was a face-lift, removed the flaps of skin that hung from her cheeks and chin, which weighed down her face and caused frequent headaches. She decided to do this after her husband shot her face. The results of her voice is muffled and slurs a bit, owing to the slow movement of her jaw. Also her nerve endings in her face are still growing back, so some patches of skin are more sensitive than others. But over all it was a successful surgery and she is happy than ever that she can feel the lips of her 3-year-old grandson when he kisses her on the cheek. And she recently ate a steak for the first time in years.
ReplyDeleteWhat i think of this article is that its very impressive and unbelievable, nowadays you can fix your face to something different if you want to, its amazing to see the results but im pretty sure it hurts so bad too.

This article is about the efforts of finding grizzly bears and bringing them back to Washington State. A hundred years ago they were hunted and trapped by the hundreds and nearly became extinct.
Some people are excited about bringing back the bears, while others are concerned about the conflicts that would arise. I guess I feel neutral about this situation because I see eye to eye with both sides. It would be a great thing to increase the population of grizzly bears since there is only few now a days. But with all the people living in Washington state, I can see how problems would accure when the large grizzly bear mixes with people. Maybe there could be a way in bringing the bears in by having conservation areas for them. A park of some kind!

ReplyDeletehttp://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/09/100916-fish-kill-louisiana-gulf-oil-spill-dead-zone-science-environment/
The article I chose is about the massive ammounts of fish that appeared dead in the Bayou Channel area of Louisiana. I blame the oil spill personally. The environmental effect the oil spill has had on all forms of sea life has been devastation but this far away from the spill and still having this many deaths is just unheard of. Apparently every year the gulf has a "dead zone" where oxygen consuming bacteria are formed and use all the oxygen so many fish suffocate, but combined with the oil spill the bacteria have killed thousands of fish and contaminated the water even further than it originally was. It's a tragic thing for something like this fish kill to have occured so far from the actual spill but hopefully with the combined efforts of the United states and its counterparts we can stop something like this from ever happening again.

in the world of Rome there was money about be stolen under the noses of the men in charge. now they are under investigation as i type or you read this. the weird thing is the inquiry was launched after two suspicious transactions were reported to tax police. I honestly do not believe people would do for money.

right now a bill is be discuss that if gay's should join the military. well one within the american people i'm okay woth it. Just 56 senators voted in favour of debating the defence authorisation bill, four short of the 60 required.the only Republican senator to support repealing the law, Susan Collins, now said she was withdrawing her support. Her vote was seen as the crucial 60th vote needed to limit debate and advance the bill in the 100-seat Senate.
