ReplyDeleteI believe that children should be allowed to work if they choose to. In earlier times in history children would join their parents in working on the farm. It is a good chance for getting a learning experience in a job. It also, as the article says, gives the kids something to do, and gives their family a helping hand. The employers cannot be blamed because the kids are volunteering their work for free, and aren't being coerced in any way by the employers. I just think the "child advocates" are being paranoid.
There will be a change in the 100 dollar bill by late next year. The change is being made to keep ahead of counter fitters whose main target is the hundred dollar bill. This change involves extremely complex micro printing which will move an image when looking at the bill from side to side in the light. The government says $118.1 million in counterfeit U.S. currency was found in 2006, which this new improvement will hopefully cut down. Crane and co. a Dalton based company has a $46 million contract to produce the new security threads. This advancement in security will cut down on counterfeiting and while not altering the American greenback too much.

ReplyDeleteI never really thought about passing a law having to do with the first responders to 9/11, but I do think it's a good thing. Those people and fighters who were there first at the scene really do deserve something special. I know the government feels bad about having to wait this long for it to become available for those individuals, but I think that right now is actually a perfect time for them to get it. Having those kind of benefits can help anybody even if they they don't necessarily need it. I just think this would be a sweet surprise for those first responders, because I'm sure they still think about that 9/11 event everyday.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/09/29/new.jersey.student.suicide/index.html?iref=NS1
ReplyDeleteI read a story on how a student of Rutgers university commited suicide because of a leaked video on the internet. The video was taken by two Rutgers fellow students, when they put a hidden camera in his dorm room. The video video was of the kid in a sexual encounter. The boys body has not yet been found but people are sure to have saw him jump from the George Washington bridge. I beleive that the two kids that leaked the video on the internet were wrong. They might have thought that it was a funny prank, but when does a prank go too far. The student s should definatly be charged and very possibly removed a exspelled from Rutgers university.

ReplyDeleteWhile trying to get their candidates in the North Carolina State Senate race, Republicans and Democrats are trying different techniques to get more votes. Democrats found some 20-year-old drug use record to use against one of the Republican candidates. Republicans, on the other side, are using TV ads to show that Democrats are against Muslims. The North Carolina state is known for the meanest politicians and political campaigns. During the Civil War, North Carolina was extremely dangerous in matter of politics.
I think that such political campaigns aren't unusual as it always happened. Also, making the opponents look worse by finding some facts about them is very popular. I think that those should be stopped. What the parties do now is what matters. Sure, a person might have done something wrong in the past, but who hasn't? The elections should be about the present and the future of the state or country.

ReplyDeleteI've never actually seen any news about Ecuador so this is literally news. It's also super... weird. National police physically attacked the president over what is said to be "cancellation of bonuses and promotions". This was also posted on the Facebook page of the Correa's party congresswoman. This is highly surprising to read that first of all, a president was openly attacked by many and then facebooked about.
So i guess to me this article is both a realizaiton that places all over the world have issues with their governmnt but atleast here we're more civil about it, and we're lucky for that. and also that facebooking harsh news is a nice way to spread info. It just seems super "innapropriate" to facebook about that. Like, if a friend of mine was just attacked i would't post it up on my profile. But it's all diffrent in contexts i think.

ReplyDeletehttp://www.aolnews.com/surge-desk-elections/article/christine-odonnell-one-of-many-politicians-who-claim-god-is-on-their-side/19655660
ReplyDeletethis is article is talking about how people view some politicians that believe God is on their side. Whether you believe in God or not they still sat it because they know that the mass majority of our society believes in God. Yet some say they use it in a context when they don't actually mean it. Do I think that leaders say they believe in in God to get more supporters? yes, but that doesn't make it right to use it in their speeches if they don't even believe in what they are saying...

This article is interesting. It is a good mystery as to where they are. The thing is, they could be out there, stranded in the ocean somewhere. I'ts a good thing that they have such devoted rescue teams to stick with the situation and not give up. I feel bad for the wife of one of the men, but she is hopeful. Hopefully, they will find the lost guys soon.

ReplyDeleteThis article talks about an american soldier that was killed in Iraq. I feel bad about the incident because this is an american. He died protecting our country. That's very brave of any person to put our lives before his. My heart goes out to the relatives. God bless America!!!

ReplyDeleteThe article i read about was about how veteran Illinois politician Rahm Emanuel. Known as the toughest man in American politics has stepped down from the White house as chief of staff. This event was announced by President Obama on friday.Emanuel, who held a Chicago congressional seat for six years, is widely expected to run for mayor of his hometown. He says that chicago is the best city in the world and he can not wait to make it better than what it is now. After Emanuel's speech Obama wanted to let Emanuel and everyone else know that everything obama needed done he could count on him and knew he would get the job done. This event was a sad day and it made me hope that someone else can do emanuel's job just as good as he did.
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/10/01/600-arrested-in-south-america-during-counterfeit-raids/
ReplyDeleteTheir were 600 people arrested in South America for counterfeit raids that were worth more than 50 million dollars. I thought this wasn't good because its hurting our economy and during our time it can have a serious consequence toward people. Another reason these counterfeit raids weren't good because not only is hurting our trademark holders, it's also hurting our consumers. I thought that the people that were arrested deserved what they got because it wasn't a safe thing to do.

ReplyDeleteJameela McCaffity
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention have gathered information and calculated from the list of surveyed people country wide, that around 9% of adults in the United States are struggling with or being diagnosed with depression, one symptom at most is the prediction. Mississippi, the largest number of depression rates, versus other states and countries, where sitting around not wanting to do anything in life - hopelessness, low interest in day-to-day-activities – not trying to get out there and have fun. But lazying around, boredum. The least effected rate of depression would be in North Dakota, where 4.8% of people suffer from variety of depressions. Its been clear that in the Southeast regions due to obesity and heart disease has the highest rate. “McKnight-Eily further said that the symptoms of a chronic disease can aggravate due to depression.” Not having a lot of money or enough money and lack of being able to receive the further financial aid that people need had been the cause of depression for many individuals. This is fairly important and easy to cut these issues at the root if you find your self in any of the ones listed above (no interest.. etc]

ReplyDeletethis is a very controversial (insane, I'd say) article. this is about the woman Christine O'Donnell, who is a part of the TEA PARTY, and this a "separate group" of the republicans. this article, actually reminded me about the things that we talked today during the lesson, when the British through the tea over the board.. this is the source of their separate group in the republicans party.
when democrats saw that they were..a kind of overwhelmed, and they try to gain votes and to convince people that the thing that just happened to the republicans is not good at all.

this is about the the new islamic center being built in NYC. There had been many debates on weather it should be built since its near the 9/11 attack.
I think it should be built. Muslim people as a whole shoulnt be judged and blamed for 9/11. Also its about religious freedoms they should be able to worship who ever they want. With out being judged or hated upon.

ReplyDeleteThis situation is crucial. Suicide is becoming a serious issue. it occurs from things like cyber bullying, bully, low confedence, etc. People need to change their ways of bullying people because it turns into a death situation, which is very scary. Lets make a change.

ReplyDeleteAidan:
a nobel prize winner's wife is not charged with a crime but is placing herself under house arrest.. Yeah, weird. She is not allowing anyone inside, nor to contact her. she claims "they" did it. like, literally she said "they destroyed my mobile phone". But... she destroyed her mobile phone. The rest of this article is random fun facts about chinese prizes of honor that don't really make sense or relate to the main story at all.
I think news story is hilarious and i laughed a couple of times seeing as she snapped and is now holding herself in her own apartment and making false allegations over Twitter.
