We read "Grim Expectations for Report on Poverty in United States" in the New York Times... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/12/AR2010091203963.html
ReplyDeletewe read and article about about the high proverty rate in the U.S. More people are poor today than 10 years ago. 14.7% or 45 million people are struggling. We think many people are poor even though they are working as hard as they can. Sometimes people don't access to a good education and this means they cant get high paying jobs.

This article was about the record breaking hurricane season so far. It talked about how there has been a lot of recent activity, with hurricane Karl, Igor, and Julia. So far this year, there have been 11 named storms, 5 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes. The season is only half over, and has already reached the average amount of storms for an entire season.

In June through August of this month, the United States had above average temperatures. Only seven states had normal temperatures, while 29 did not. The Southeast had their warmest summer yet this past summer, and the rest of the country made it in to the top five. In most of the upper midwest there was heavy rainfall due to the warmer temperatures. There were also many tornadoes and wild fires in the state of Minnesota

Today I read about a wall of fire that was happening in Herriman, Utah. It took 150 fire-fighters to manuvier the smoke from last night to monday morning. The fire-fighters tried to control the smoke as the winds blew them everywhere and near by homes and schools were suffering. The Captain of the fire-figters daid the smoke was so bad that they couldnt even see the escape routes. This article makes me ask my self "why is everything catching fire?" it was pleanty fires in California this suummer. Now Utah. The world is coming to a end slowly. :(

I thought this event doesn't really affect me, but I guess it would be interesting if I ever visited. Obama's side of the idea is more accepting, while many other parties like McCain and Palin agued against it. I myself, don't really care, but I'd go towards the "no" side so nobody is harmed from hate crimes. other parties think that muslims aren't really part of this, but only the ignorant ones think they are, since it was just a group of people that caused 9/11.
The article was about a lady that pled not guilty inacid hoax case. The woman who splashed acid in her face in what was a bizarre hoax made a brief court appearance Wednesday and was ordered by a judge to live in a mental health facility while she awaits trial. After she confessed that she made up the story about the facial burns she suffered She was saying she put drain cleaner on her face trying to kill herself or alter her appearance. She was sent to a mental intitue in order to get her mind straight. I blieve that it was a good idea to put her in a mental institute , because she was a caution to society.
