I read an article about a large drug bust in Virginia. It took place in Pearisburg, Virginia on august 4, after a national guard helicopter spotted a single marijuana plant. When the police department further investigated the property, they came across the largest drug bust that the sheriffs office had seen in a couple of years. They came across 4 pounds of dried marijuana, 73 plants and about 120 guns. Darrell Linden Porterfield was charged with with possessing marijuana and manufacturing marijuana. Porterfield was released on bond from the jail, but he will most likely be charged with possession of the firearms, estimated to be worth $25,000 to $30,000.

I read about the first Nigerian Billionaire. Aliko Dangote is worth around 2.1B. He is currently the richest man in Nigeria. But, what surprised me was his career. He trades commoities such as, sugar, pasta, and cement. This surprises me because trading is the oldest sourse of income. Its weird because something that basic could be worth so much. I watched a video on his cement plant. Its in the middle of a Nigerian forset. He said that all that was there before was vast veggitation. When Aliko Dangote built his plant he made sure that he employed locally and gave his workers improved living states. Most of them are lower class. I feel that not only did the cement plant help African construction it also benifitted the lower class workers too.

  5. My article was on terrorist plotting to bomb European tourist sites. onuments in Europe have raised their security around these areas. They described as a fledgling terror plot to wage Mumbai-style shooting sprees or other attacks on Britain, France or Germany. The Eiffel Tower in Paris was briefly evacuated Tuesday — the second time in two weeks because of an unspecified threat — and French police were on alert.A heavy police presence was seen Wednesday around Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Big Ben. Victoria Station was briefly evacuated after an unusual smell was reported. The Pakistani official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was continuing, characterized the evidence as more aspiration than a fully planned terror plot. This can cause frights all over the world. Any place can be bombed at any time, which puts the world in danger.

But they say that the shooting started around eight that moring near Littlefield Fountain and then finished by turinq the gun on himself in the library. Wilmington, North Carolina set a 3-day rainfall total this week. The record was 19.66 inches, which passed the 19.06 inches set in September 14 through September 16th in 1999 set by Hurricane Floyd. As of now 20.43 inches of rain have been recorded in Wilmington, this could be dangerous for people in that area. People have to be extra careful when driving down the roads so that no accidents occur. Also, they shouldn't speed; speeding and rain will make for a slippery crash. Wilmington should expect to have the heaviest rainfall in North Carolina this month.

In todays article I read about a 24 year old man setting himself on fire in Portland, Maine. This man apparently poured gasoline on hiself and lit a match. People on the street try to out the fire out but could not. A few minutes later someone driving jumped out the car with a fire exstinguisher. They say he was trying to commit suicide and was sent to a Boston hospital to get treated. All I can say about this story is wow. People setting thereselves on fire and making themselves suffer. For what? I would not know. Again what is this world coming to?

The weather is killing North Carolinians where we have had more rain than we have ever seen in some areas along the coast. Some people were cut off from the rest of the country with no way to get in or out on flooded roads.
North Carolina tells John Roberts and Christine Romans on American Morning about some of the water rescues and troubles plaguing the area.

A group of South American leaders Friday condemned an "attempted coup" in Ecuador and praised troops for rescuing the country's president in a shootout with police.
In a statement issued after an emergency meeting in Argentina, the group of presidents and top officials pledged to send their foreign ministers to Ecuador later Friday to show support for President Rafael Correa, whom police allegedly kidnapped Thursday in an attempt to force him to revoke a new law.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/29/us/29marriage.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=saying%20no%20to%20i%20do&st=cse

The United States crossed an important marital treshold in 2009, a lot of people are not getting married untill they have a good job and also many people are just roomates becuase getting married is a big step especially if you don't have a good job or you're afraid you'll lose your job.

i think that getting married at a young age or getting married without a job is going to be complictaed and the might go through a lot of struggles.

"Reports say deadline hinders asylum seekers"

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/30/us/30asylum.html?scp=1&sq=reports%20say%20deadline&st=cse

Some people come to the United States because they risked attack or imprisonment if they returned to their home countires. While many immigration issuse have become hotly contentious, people who need asylum are having to go back.

I think is better if they can stay here because if they go back to there country they will be kill or get hurt so I think is good to stay in United States where they life will be safe.

  16. Saying No to "I Do" With Economy in Mind

This article is all about people who can't marry without mponey because they don't have jobs. Lots are living with partners. More people are waiting until they feel economically secure enough to marry. Some say that it's also a fear of intimacy and of marriage.

I think getting married is obviously a big step. Definitely takes money to get married. Being marrid probably means eventually buying a house and having kids. Going to be too much work to do when you get married. You have to take care of them and feed them, but most of the people living together without married because they don't have enough money to have wedding. I think this is bad.

The share of American women and men who were married fell 57 percent in 2000 to 52 percent in 2009. People are not getting married until they get a good job. "people are unsure about their job security, and lots of people lost their jobs. Getting married is obviously a big step and if you are not confortable about your future it make sense that you postpone a big dicision like this" they said.

According to this article I think people are showing their greed, but they might face many problems if they don't have a good jobs and get married.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/30/science/space/30planet.html?scp=1&sq=new%20planets%20may%20be%20able%20to&st=cse

A new planet may be able to nutrure organisms. Some scientists say it would be too hot to live, some say it would be too cold, another says that the search for living planets is on the right track.

I think it is very excting to see the progress of our technology and see that one day we probably will be able to find a new planet with organisms. Hopefully I will be alive to see this moment!

Reports Say Deadline Hinders Asylum Seekers

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/30/us/30asylum.html?scp=1&sq=reports%20say%20deadline&st=cse

This week I read about the reports saying deadline hinders asylum. The United States, the world's most generous country when it comes to receiving refugees. In all 54, 141 people (about 18% of all asylum applicants) were rejected because they did not meet the deadline.

I think it is too bad for refugee people because they don't have enough food or water or a home. They need the help of the United States.

This article is about people who don't want to be married because they can't find enough work. Some people do get married even when the economy is bad.

I think this is a perfect excuse to the persons trying to destroy the traditions because if two people are in love and don't get married, they are losing the tradition of marriage. But it is another point that if you do not have a good work and you cannot save money and support your future wife.

Maybe they will die or maybe they kill other people by their accident that so scare for everybody We can born just one time. I want them to think about it. This is not being a good citizen!

People be together without married because they are unsure about their jobs security and a lot of people lost their jobs. In 2000 57% people were married . And 2009 52% people were married. This is the lowest percentage since the government began collecting data 100 years ago.

i think that good because people are suppose to respect jobs more than married.
