This is about the first school that uses all renewable energy. It is in Kentucky. The school will use solar power, geothermal technology, have a "rainwater collection system," and much more. I think this is a fantastic idea. I am strongly for renewable energy and believe that the first place to start using it more is in public places.

This article discusses the conflicts arising from the world of Facebook. Many people forget that even when they're alone at their computer, everyone can see their posts, and I mean EVERYONE. There have been increasing issues with angry or inappropriate posts, especially with couples having online arguments or employees losing their jobs due to Facebook posts. This article talks about the problems that come from these online spats, and also how they show the sad de-evolution of face-to-face dating and confrontation. (Ironically, users have even begun to make groups title things like "Join if you hate couples that fight on Facebook," etc.)

The article I read was about a 19-year-old, Bibi Aisha, who had here nose and ears cut off. She had shamed her husband's family and as a form of Taliban justice they cut off her nose and ears. The pictures are horiffying. She was given to marry a man who was part of the Talibans. She never met her husband beacuse he was off fighting in Pakistan. She became a slave to her new family and tried to run away. Her two female neighbors took her to a neighboring city where they then tried to sell her to another man. Her husband came back to take her to court where he was allowed to cut off her nose and ears. He took her to the mountains and performed the act. He left her there to die, but she survived to tell her story.

One of my favorite news topics is the clashing between two cultures. Thats exactly what happended in Daubi whena a English couple was arrested for "kissing" in public. Daubi is traditionally a Muslim country, and does not turn a blind eye to torrests who refuse to chose to ignore the strict standards the Muslim religion sets on their people.

  5. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/19/education/19suspend.html?ref=us

I read an article about a girl in North Carolina being suspended for an entire semester for fighting. She is not allowed to attend an alternative school or school at home. The case will be tried in the NC Supreme court Monday. The article also talked about how more African American kids are suspended than White kids. This does seem to be true or maybe theres just more emphasis put on them.

The latest report on google says that it and its partners are looking to come to television. They along with sony and intel would be bringing apps like twitter, and picasa web album with it according to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Both reports gave news of the project, said to be in its early stages, to unnamed sources. However google did not return a message from CNN seeking comment. I think that this would be a good idea, and that I could see it happening.

A 16 year old boy was arrested for making a racial anouncement at wal mart in new jersey. The boy said "all blacks need to leave the store". He was arrested on intimidation and harassment charges. The boy is now in the custody of his parents. I was surprised that someone would do that and it proves that there are still racist people in the world.

  8. http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/03/20/mf.rich.off.video.games/index.html

This article is about 8 very rare and expensive video games. These games are Stadium Events, 1990 Nintendo World Championships, Nintendo Campus Challenge, Atlantis II, Air Raid, Star Wars Ewok Adventure, Kizuna Encounter, and Ultimate 11. The prices of these games range from $1000 to $41,000! That's quite a lot for a video game. These games are ridiculously expensive because they are old and not made anymore. The older these games become, the rarer they are and the more they're worth. That's some fascinating stuff right there.

This article is about Barack Obama and the house of democrat’s command of the votes that are needed to pass the landmark health care legislation on this Sunday night. The house argued its way through of republican objections toward late-evening vote on the bill. This will extend 32 million Americans who are lacking it. And it will Ban insurers from denying the coverage on the basis of the pre-existing medical conditions.

  10. world leaders go alone without Republican support, because Republicans say this is a government takeover of health care, they are trying to build their democratic team but are having trouble because people are worried about it costing so much.

  11. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/04/10/circus.worker.elephant/index.html

A frightened elephant stomped its trainer to death at a Pennsylvania circus. It was unclear what scared the elephant, but even with people helping to calm it down, the trainer did not survive. A balloon vender said that the death was shocking. "In the 30 years I've been doing my vending, I've never heard an animal killing their trainer and all," he said. "So something must have happened." It was said later that the elephant may have came in contact with electrical wires.
