A woman trainer was killed by a killer whale in Sea World this week. After one of her shows the whale had pulled her in the tank and started messing with her like she was a toy. soon enough she was attacked and killed by the killer whale. One of the witnesses went down to where you could see the whole tank. and while her and her daughter were admiring the size of the whale they notice the woman trainer getting pushed around by the whale. soon enough she was dead.

Police in Southern California are working with the Mexican police searching for a missing family. They have studied hundreds of hours of video tapes in hope of finding something but still no luck. The only sign of them so far is their abandoned car that was found near the Mexican border. The police are working together across the border to try and find this family. Some suggest that they might have been kidnapped or are being held against their will in some way. There were things around the home that suggested that they had not planned any vacation. Such as unattended dogs without food or water, and food that has been left out.

A family in Pennyslvania is going to sue their son's school. They said that it watched him through his laptop's webcam while he was at home and did not know that he was being watched. The parents said the district used its ability to access a webcam remotely on their son's district-issued laptop computer. They were not supposed to be able to do this. So the family feels that their privacy, and rights have been violated. The laptop was a part of the school districts program to close the gap between children who do not have computers at home or that were not able to access the internet at home.

I read an article about the Maryland Senate approving a ban on chemical bisphenol A in bottles and cups for children 4 and under. The bill passed in a unanimous decision. The ban does not apply to toys and teething rings. This is a very good law.Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor, which can mimic the body's own hormones and may lead to negative health effects.Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor, which can mimic the body's own hormones and may lead to negative health effects. It harms young children more. This law protects children from harmful chemicals.

This story talks about a new animated film called "The Secret of Kells." This movie is revolutionary in many ways, besides the fact that it is bringing back traditional hand-drawn animation. It brings back another, much older style: manuscript illumination. The movie gives a nod to the 9th century Irish volume called The Book of Kells. Any art historian can tell you about this book, as it is a world famous illumination that took multiple monks many years to finish. The twisting lines, decorative backdrops, and even the storyline and setting (set in the restored Abbey of Kells, Ireland) relates back to The Book of Kells and its artistic style. This movie is not only groundbreaking, but truly one of a kind.

I guess I stumbled upon the same article Deanna read. Oh well. On Wednesday in a Shamoo show at Sea World an Orca trainer was attacked and killed by an Orca. This specific Orca had already been involved in two other human killings. The fact that it has been aloud to continue large amounts of interactions with humans is just not acceptable. I do not think that the animal should be killed because they are willed animals of an endangered species, but at the same time releasing it into the wild is also out of the question. I think the whale should be kept in an environment with other whales, but not allowed to be in shows that involve humans because he has already shown on numerous occasions to not be a safe animal to interact with.

This is an article discussing the on-going debate on whether animals were made to preform on stage for people to marvel at them. Many people see this as a form of animal cruelty. The recent story of the whale trainer being injuried and dying of injuries have just raised the issuse once again. Many people believe Orcas and other large predators should not be held in captivity, and because they are such large and wild animals, this incidence was only to be exspected.

This is a really cool new scientific discovery. Scientists have discovered how to use piezoelectric crystals to harness the body's natural energy. This energy is produced when we do anything - breathe, dance, run. The scientists want to put this new science to use so that, at first, small electronic devices can be powered just by walking around. I think this is a very interesting new form of green technology.

Two students were bullying a 15-year-old girl. She was so fed up with it that she committed suicide. The two students were then expelled and might have to face criminal charges. Bullying doesn't only occur in South Hadly, Mass. It happens everywhere. We need to be more aware of how our actions might affect others and take care of one another to avoid more tragedies like this one.
