This article is really interesting. In 1992, fossils of one Ardipithecus ramidus, (nicknamed "Ardi" for short) were discovered in Africa. This skeleton dates back 4.4 million years, and is far older and far more primitive than Lucy, who until now, was the oldest fossilized hominid. (Lucy dates back to approximately 3.2 million years ago.) 17 years later, Ardi's fairly complete skeleton was presented along with a full analysis of it. The 4 foot, 120 pound female hominid represents the "in-between period," during which humans broke away from their chimpanzee-like ancestors. Although Ardi was bipedal, she still maintained her ancestors' agility in climbing. She also shows chracteristics of long extinct monkeys, such as long arms, shorter legs and flat feet.

Terrorist suspect Hosam Smadi was arrested this week in Dallas, Texas. He was arrested on charges for recording a 7 minute video for fugitive terrorist Osama Bin Laden. He was planning on bombing a 60 story building in Dallas. I think everyone should know about this topic because it is a big problem in our society today. Terrorism is everywhere and people should know what is going on and what they can do to protect themselves.

Finally a swine flu vacine! The nasal spray variety available now is only for healthy people between the ages of 2 and 49. It will most likely be given first to those in a priority group that includes health care workers, children and people who care for children. This means those who are willing to pay for it get it first. The nasal spray makes you snort a weakened or dead swine flu virus.

Yesterday congressional aides announced that prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba would be allowed to transfer to the U.S. and face criminal trial. I think that it's about time we came to this decision. In fact, I think it's ridiculous we have had to wait this long for such an annoucement at all. It's just wrong that we have been holding people in these cells, with no way of truly determining their guilt. By shipping them off to other countries, we have basically only been submitting them to mock trials. Hopefully these trials will help bring justice to those wrongfully accused, and find responsible those who are really guilty of these crimes.

Many people in Fort Lauderdale were exposed to a number of diseases because a nurse at a Fort Lauderdale hospital reused dirty equipment. She used the same disposable IV equipment on multiple patients. She was reported after someone said they saw her using the same saline bag and tubing on another patient. She may have exposed people to diseases such as HIV and hepatitus. The total number of people she may have exposed is 1,851. The nurse knew she was doing it wrong, yet she still continued to reuse the same equipment. HOpefully this will help other hospitals prevent crimes like this one.

I thought that this would be a fun story to do for a current event. A meat plant owner in South Dakota abandoned his factory and left over 44 tons of bison meat to rot in a meat locker. It was able to go undetected for two months because the cold South Dakota winters kept the meat chilled. When spring came the meat began to rot and therefore smell. It could be smelled in every part of the small town that the factory was located in. The mess was hauled away by five dump trucks and three extra-large trash bins. The county was left with a $5,000 bill to pay for the dump trucks and the men to drive them. Although the tab was large, citizens are glad the smell is gone. I think that this article is quirky local news. There are a lot of serious issues like health care and H1N1 virus being discussed in the news and when I saw this article it made me laugh. Unfortunately, it was a large waste of meat and it is sad that the bison lost their lives to only end up rotting in an abandoned factory, but it is interesting that the owner never thought to deal with the meat he left behind. I also think that it's strange how the meat was able to go undetected for 2 months before anyone began to smell the it, but that shows you how cold South Dakota really is.

I was surprised when I first read this. So they just now came out with the first ever swine flu vaccine and New York recieved a shippment of 68,000 doses. Brandon Marti was among the first few to get the vaccine delivered to them. Every state has ordered vaccines now and 2.2 out of the total 2.4 million doses have been ordered. The vaccine is to olny be used in people from 2-49 with no underlying health issues. I think this news is an amzing health-care break through and im happy to see we finally discovered the vaccine.

This artical that I read is about Nasa's research in space. Soon, Nasa is expection their latest creation to intentionally crash into the moon. This is so it stirs up dust and rock on the mooms surface so that the astronauts can study the soil and find out if there is any sign of water or ice. I think this is important because using this information, we can study the moon a lot better and we can learn what it was like millions of years ago. I think its interesting because there is even a possibility that life once roamed the moon, not only water and dust.

  10. health care is not goin to pay for certain medical procedures depending on the cercumstance. abortions are a prime example, this procedure the gov. isnt gonna spend federal money on abortions unless the pregnacy is cause by rape or incest or if the child will endanger the mother life.

  11. On friday morning at 7:30 a.m. NASA crashed a $79 million rocket into a crater on the moon in search of water. The scientists at NASA thought there could be ice in that crater because it has not recieved sunlight in billions of years, and because the temperatures in that crater can reach -350 Celcius. They will be searching the crash site for ice for the next couple of weeks. If they find water they will start construction of a moon base. I think this will be a great advancement for science and manking because in thousands of years we could be living on the moon. I think they will find ice on the moon and will start construction of a moon base very soon.

  12. the Eagles defense felt they had something to prove after they defeated the Chiefs 34-14, they held the Chiefs to no 3rd down conversions, way better than there 3 for 16 proformance against the Carolina Panthers.

This article is about a killing in a small town. A fight broke out between mexican and white football players. It was said that they beat him up because he was mexican. They don't know if that was the reason for sure, but they assumed it was because witnesses said that there were some racist remarks against latinos. Personally, I think that the fact to even judge others by the race is not a smart thing to do. You should accept people for who they really are.
