Each week you will be required to find a news article, read it, and share your opinion on the article. You will turn in your current event by commenting on the post for your class. Please provide a link to the article you read in your comment. Some weeks, I will give you an assigned topic, and other weeks you will be able to choose. The only topics that are off limits are sports and entertainment news. I have provided some links on the right side of the page to help you get started.

Let's practice! Please find an article, link it, and add your comments in the section below.

Teddy Kennedy died. Ted was one of John F. Kennedy's brothers. He was a very important asset to the democratic party. The world will miss him.

I don't really know that much about Ted Kennedy, but it was still sad for me when I heard that he died a few days ago. The Kennedy family had been in politics for a long time and many positive things have resulted because of them. I would like to learn more about the Kennedy family because they are connected to a fair amount of events in American history. A lot of people followed their family and Ted's death will be talked about for a long time.

Four years after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is still rebuilding. A high school athletic director was going to get his football stadium rebuilt, but the firm designing the stadium pulled out a few days before the deadline. If they didn't pull out, the school would have quailified for an NFL grant.

I agree that the flood of illegal aliens should stop, but I do not agree with this, "they will simply join the 45 percent of Americans who currently pay nothing and our National Debt will continue to soar" since many illegal aliens have jobs that americans are too lazy too fill.

Apparently there are a lot more illegal immigrants than the government is telling us, but this might not be a bad thing because if they're all counted in our census and given the right to vote as an American citizen, then Obama and the Democratic party will most likely stay in office and our tax base will get a tremendous boost, and both of these things would be good for our country.

i found this article intersting because i jusat started driving about 4 months ago, and personally i would never be on my phone while driving. i dont turn it off because i might need it for an emergency ( and it takes way too long for my phone to turn on agian) while reading it i likeed the idea of how you say ur txt and then it turns it into a text and all without having to look down at you key pads, but i dont like the idea of how the car will turn the phone off if your driving...that would get to be very annoying. i just hope that people are smart enough to not txt while driving :D

Edward M. Kennedy died at age 77 of a brain tumor. He was the Senator of Massachusetts. We need cure for cancer before many other people like him die.

The idea of selling produce like ice cream is a very interesting concept. It makes it convenient to get healthy food to those who have no way of making it to a grocery store. I remember when I was younger, a few blocks a way from my home there was a community pea patch. A pea patch is where different people from the neighborhood could plant flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Everyone would then take care of the garden by watering plants and pulling weeds. It was nice to have a close to home source for fresh berries, tomatoes, and lettuce. I am glad that someone thought about a program that would enable those who are less fortunate to have access to fresh produce.

I found this link because I thought it was pretty sweet how they use scraps, and makes them useful. This way they can save on supplies and use them for other things.

  16. In what may be the most anticipated preseason game in Eagles history, quarterback Michael Vick will make his debut with the club Thursday against the Jaguars.
Michael Vick makes his debut with the Eagles Thursday night.

The Eagles have much to accomplish in what will basically be a dress rehearsal for the regular season, but Vick's first game action since Dec. 31, 2006, will be front and center.

    Illegal Aliens, believe it.

We are all human. No matter where people come from that will always be the same. So even though many Americans think that they are the cause of most of the problems in America, they are a nessesary part of this country.
